The “Bruised Banana” below is thought likely to be a chimera, though Party Geckos is going to see what he can do, and I’ll be excited to see what he produces.īlue Steel is a pet-only chimera at The Harlequin Hoard. Then there are the geckos whose looks truly can’t be recreated. Chimeras are single organisms composed of genetically distinct cells, produced by the merger of multiple fertilized eggs. There are no true “morphs” that prove out in crested geckos (though Altitude Exotics is currently working on an axanthic project) the way that leopard geckos or ball pythons do – just traits or trait combinations that we give names to when they appear, which makes it interesting when geckos show traits that don’t fit into our constructed categories. I love geckos that challenge traditional “morph” descriptions. Torti, however, is currently paired with a perfect male for her, Water Color, who Adventure Gecko owner Lauren Phillips jokingly calls a brindlequin–maybe a harlequin, maybe a brindle (offspring have been harlies). My fantasy pairings for him would definitely be Caprice of Emery Exotics:Īnd Torti of The Adventure Gecko, produced by Aritonnic I’m personally of the latter opinion, but one thing is for sure Fallon of Swift Arrow Geckos is very cool oddball. Here’s a gecko who has caused some disagreement as to whether he in an extreme harlequin or a tiger with flame pattern on the dorsal. One more black and orange tiger, Marble, from Gecko Haven – a bit more traditional than the others Interestingly, KB Crested Geckos is currently offering a huge giveaway ( check out their Facebook to enter) for a a gecko dark-backed tiger phantom with an orange base I think would work well in a project with either of the above geckos: Here’s a photo of the same gecko looking a bit brighter in the base. He was produced by Altitude Exotics and is owned by Liquidlizardreptiles.Īltitude Exotics recently put a similar gecko up for auction from the “Department of Mysteries” experiment pairi ngs. Have you ever noticed dark-backed geckos on the market? I have never seen this as a breeding project before, but I cannot get over how much this gecko reminds me of a baby dragon. Climbing up mountains, swimming underneath waterfalls, and zip lining through the rain forest were some of my favorite moments.I often do posts on geckos that I think best epitomize a specific color or pattern, but what about the geckos that complicate our categories? Photos could never do justice to the beauty that surrounded us. His knowledge and expertise of the land and wildlife made this experience exciting and educational. Brian encouraged me to face challenges I didn't think I could complete. I can truly say that I extended myself beyond what I thought I could. I have always loved the natural world and animals, but I found much more with this trip and connecting with fellow travelers. Kaylynn from IN “The time I spent on Altitude Exotics Adventure Retreat was so amazing. If you love hiking, sight seeing, beautiful views, or any kind of wildlife, you will NOT regret your decision to go on this adventure with Brian!” From hiking to the top of Antelope Falls to watch the sunrise (and again to see a meteor shower), to catching a baby alligator in the Bocawina Rainforest, to relaxing on the beach in Placencia, and all of the other countless little things that happened in between, this was a trip that I truly will not forget for the rest of my life. What I got out of it was much, much more. “I went on this trip in August 2021 and it was nothing short of amazing! I signed up to get a little escape from the monotony of life and see pretty jungle waterfalls and a keel-billed toucan if I got lucky. I am also very grateful to have met Brian and call him my friend.” If you are a enjoy photography like me I strongly suggest bringing your camera. So many incredible things to do and see such has hikes, waterfalls, zipline and much more. “If you are a fan of Brian from Altitude Exotics and love the outdoors this is a trip of a lifetime.
